Welcome to Vanishing Landmarks, a website dedicated to preserving the majestic Grain Elevator. Most particularly the old wooden elevators that use to span across the provinces and states and that were a staple of every community.

Vanishing Landmarks was originally created by Don Lamont in 1999, who spent most of that summer and following summers photographing grain elevators around Saskatchewan. Unfortunatly he passed away in 2002, and before his website went offline I managed to save most of the photographs he enjoyed taking. I myself had taken a few and had submitted them to his website.

With that, I give you a new Vanishing Landmarks website that is a little more dynamic than Don's. As well, I am trying to gather information on each elevator and publically display this for educational purposes. As I catalog each elevator I welcome anyone willing to help to do so. If you know any of this information, please don't hesistate to submit it. If you happen to have photographs of elevators I do not already have, then again, please submit them.

Your help is greatly appreciated and I hope you enjoy the site. Comments are always welcome. If you want to use this information for anything please contact me for permission.
